This was the path of least resistance to claim diversity while also reducing the storylines of several (now) Black characters and (as of now) removing the only canonically Black character in the cast.

Spoilers: They couldâve made the greens Black, but then werenât gonna do that because they wouldâve been called out because theyâre all supposed to d*e. They couldâve made all the kids mixed, but they knew their target audience was never going to be down with that.

The Velaryons being Black was used as a plot device to remove any sort of nuance from the story, but the writers wonât tell you that and will say itâs for diversity. The Black actors on that show deserve so much better than what was given to them.
