In my latest column for @Bruegel_org I argue that, on tech regulation, the EU should stop apologising and go on the offensive. The case for EU regulation killing innovation (as recently put forward by the US) is weak. (happy to engage, on bluesky) https://t.co/kQ0vvZggWK

The EU should stop apologising for its tech laws, promoting instead their stabilising and fair-competition aspects

From 24.20, I say: narrative path-dependency extends also to industry and MS. They repeat the same mantra since years. Instead of shooting at merger policy, telecoms (with cross-border M&A) and MS (spectrum) should work for a EU-wide market.

Suicide rates give the pulse of societies’ most structural issues. A compelling layer of analysis is gender: across **all** cultures, males are much more likely to commit suicide than females

@porcarorama @LauraNurski @abenanav @janinemberg @DigitalMarioM wrote an opinion piece arguing that we should be concerned about the bias embedded in artificial intelligence. He says that "Biases are not only embedded in the design of the algorithm. They are also external to it, originating in societal biases." But how can we

Le parole di Piantedosi sono ignobili. Stupisce la pochezza dell’uomo. E ci ricorda che, per quanto alta sia, la carica rivestita in sé dica poco o niente dello spessore intellettuale di chi la ricopre.

Something tells me that, in the latest round of layoffs, Twitter got rid of any sensible competition lawyer in the company...

4/ I propose No-Tweet-Mondays; it could be another day. I also proposed a banner; surely someone can come up with something better. Twitter employees could also join: eg slow down procedures etc. all it takes is a concerted action - feel free to share / suggest alternatives

3/ this 'Twitter-strike' is easily implementable. It can significantly affect Twitter's ads revenues through lower traffic. It is not that costly for users: no FOMO - you can tweet the next day, or read your feed then.

2/ a much better option is to simply reduce traffic (thus profits) to Twitter, ideally in a coordinated fashion. Does Twitter spread misinformation? We don't tweet on Mondays. Does Twitter escalate? We don't tweet also on Tuesdays. Twitter steps back? we tweet every day... etc
