GEODNET is a really exciting project at the intersection of hardware and blockchain. It's a decentralized global navigation satellite system (or GNSS in short) and it falls into the category of Depin projects. GNSS is the same tech that powers the GPS in your phone. A 🧵✍️

Depins are a class of projects to watch out for and better are the ones that are gathering and generating data to be used by this growing age of automated products.

The data this network collects can be used in a plethora of technologies not limited to: Precision agriculture, drone mapping, self driving cars, e.t.c. This thread won't be able to cover all the intricacies of Geodnet's technology, but it's really exciting what they're doing.

Geodnet blends the mix of these networks with incentives for the data mined by miners. By being decentralized, they eliminate single points of failure, drive high quality measurements and make the network essentially tamper-proof.

Goednet uses a decentralized network of receivers called miners that collect data from satellites. This data is then transmitted to the validator nodes, where they are checked for authenticity and accuracy. There's also the service nodes that acts like the interface.

But Geodnet uses RTKs that are very accurate to the centimeters of measurement. This is very necessary because we're now in the age of automation, self driving cars and drones that rely on navigation systems. And if they're not precise with their location, it can be devastating.

Geodnet is a decentralized GNSS that aims to increase the accuracy and reliability of centralized GNSS systems. It uses real time kinematics systems (RTKs) to enhance existing GNSS. Normal GNSS aren't actually accurate with their measurements, they're usually off in about 1-5m

GNSS is essentially a collection of satellites that transmit their location down to reference bases and are used for position tracking and navigation here on earth. They can also be used in climate tracking and weather purposes, but let's focus on what @GEODNET does here.
