Yesterday, SMART got a new general manager. Effective August 1, Tiffany Gunter, former Deputy General Manager, will be the GM. Tiffany has been working on transit in metro Detroit for over 20 years, and we're excited to work with her. We thank Dwight Ferrell for his service.

Bad news on the DDOT front, as bus breakdowns have led to a slew of cancelled trips, and (most likely) the delay of proposed September service improvements. New buses should help - but they'll take time to hit the road. #DetroitTransit.

"Why hasn't the [mayoral] conversation been about providing Detroit with a viable mass transit system". Kyle Marcelis is a millennial who is from Detroit, but has moved to Seattle. And he thinks the candidates need to address the needs of young people.

Chloé Höglund, a New Zealander tourist and content creator, wanted to see America by train. She embarked on a 6,000 mile journey, spending over 200 hours on Amtrak. What a great transit experience and way to see the country!.

TRU's Joel Batterman asks what led to the recent failure of so many buses. Cramer replied that warming weather tends to cause some equipment failures, but a combination of factors led to this issues. He says that DDOT is near full mechanic staffing (up from half two years ago).
