Not a leak/datamine but here's a super old D1 early dev video from 2011 that i don't recall seeing being talked about ever :)

I don’t think people realize part of this game lost its lust due to the tonal shift throughout the years. The tone and environment and atmosphere both in game and online was vastly different compared to what it is today.

"You only said that they should do D3" Nah, you just didn't pay attention. Before a pivot to a new title became what I saw as the route to maintain a healthy IP I stated issues with but not limited to; -Change in game tone from D1 to D2. Vibe is such a tough thing to explain
It’s neat watching the things I said/warned about D2 years ago and being yelled at about being said by folks now and being celebrated 🤣

In many ways the game was better for what it lacked. A vague but consistent vibe, a muted color palette, an artstyle that stuck to its identity, and armor that actually felt distinct and original. It wasn't perfect, but it was Destiny.

That's not even mentioning the artstyle and overall tone shift that has slowly boiled the game into what it is today. I miss when the game embraced what it was, rather than try to become something else.

For me that's been missing in D2 pretty much since it's launch. There were peaks of it in the Dreaming City, but I never felt the game came even close to matching the way D1 felt in this regard.

The vibe and atmosphere often felt mystical, and even a bit lonely. There was a sense of vastness and awe, like you’re standing at the edge of something ancient and unknowable.

Timeless. The atmosphere and vibe of this game is something that's kind of hard to explain. The music gives it an almost dream like feel, that fully immerses you like very few games have ever done before.
