Would very likely be given a Level 2 and 5 penalty runs in the County Championship (but at Test Level there are no on-field penalties under Law 42).

One more puzzler in advance of tonightâs Zoom Call: Together with a ânormal batting positionâ, at what instant is a Wide judged? Where the ball passes⌠âŚthe striker? âŚthe popping crease? âŚthe bowling crease? âŚthe wicket?

Great answers! Bit of a trick questionâŚanswer is indeed D) It could also be B) but only if either ump considers Law 20.4.22 (possible serious injury) applies. A concussion check would also be needed. In local cricket guidance on head contacts may also apply so check the regs!

Good luck and go well to all our officials and today in the first league round of the season. We have 97 umpires and a similar number of scorers out in force today, which is the most we have had for a long time.
