@DerPolContact @HighwaysEMIDS Why don’t you enforce it more? The amount of middle lane drivers on motorways is staggering and bad.

@jameslayhe @HighwaysEMIDS We try to enforce it as much as we can, but the demand placed on our officers cannot always allow this. 9 times out of 10 a marked police vehicle will make those who do this think twice.

@DerPolContact On trips to Scotland, their overhead matrix signs all give helpful reminders like this. Maybe get together with @HighwaysEngland and do the same here?

@Micklebring @HighwaysEngland Hi Neil. I have spoken with @HighwaysEMIDS about this. The signs they set are part of specific campaigns etc. set by @HighwaysEngland . They can, of course, override the sign if debris or an obstruction is reported, but where the signs can be set they hopefully will 😀

@DerPolContact Every morning a50 Alvaston to m1 junction so many sitting in the middle lane from the Alvaston junction in anticipation of the motorway split which is 3 miles further up the road so frustrating having to move from inside lane to outside and back in again

@DerPolContact @HighwaysEMIDS And in 50mph roadworks on the M6. Numpties think they have to stay in lane- much to the annoyance of everyone especially HGVs.

@DerPolContact Drivers ignoring the lane closed signs on smart motorways cause allsorts of congestion when their queue has to filter in at the point where they have no choice because of road blockage.

@DerPolContact Hi what is the law on 4 lane motorways with regard to lorries? Regularly see lorry in inside lane being over taken by a lorry in lane 2 which in turn is being overtaken by a lorry in lane 3, usually resulting in masses of tailbacks. Of course all 3 lorries doing similar speed.
