THREAD 1 of Volume 5 of the Senate Intelligence Committee’s Counterintelligence investigation into Russian election interference. The bipartisan report is 966 pages. The below is through the first 100 pages. I implore you to read it for yourself and form your own conclusions.

I am loathe to do predictions. However, there are some things you just can’t help but see coming. Project 2025 is a blinking red alarm and we all need to be aware of the stakes of this election. Please familiarize yourself with EO11246, be discriminating voters. A wee thread🧵👇🏻

This will probably be throttled, but I wrote a wee thread up in the blue sky about reports from Canada and the US State dept related to foreign election interference if you’re interested. https://t.co/S4nrRDEsYr

Another fascinating hearing from Canada was one in which the Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was asked questions and a few of his answers were absolute bangers. https://t.co/u1Y4uNI8Oy

One of the 2 leaders of a yet to be created government efficiency department that will do the same work as an existing government efficiency department explains how it is more efficient to create 2 tweets to convey the same message that used to take one.

Elon Musk effectively admits that posts with links are throttled. If you've been wondering why your posts with links to journalistic articles haven't been getting nearly the engagement you would expect, this is why. I have less and less reason to be here.

I think we should at least be aware of this as it may help us to understand how the influence operation worked and what if any impact it had or will have on Canadian elections. I’ll be following this and other stuff here: @dempseytwo.bsky.social

They already made a motion to hold their witness in contempt. They have let her know she will be brought before the Bar, which I guess means the entire parliament. They want to compel her testimony. They have questions about $10m in Russian influence money.

If Canada falls to Russian influence in its election, that is a large portion of this entire hemisphere where democracy is on the outs. I don’t know where any of this is heading but I can tell you that the Canadian MP’s I saw in that hearing are United on this.

He’s not wrong, but he just isn’t right. Get a security clearance, get the names. That simple. But he won’t. Do you see how I’m getting trump vibes? The fight for democracy isn’t just here in America. Canadians are fighting to keep theirs as well. Ukraine is dying for it.

Basically, the candidate needs to get a security clearance, most likely after a background check, but is refusing to do so. Why? Because if he doesn’t get a clearance, he can use the issue politically by saying the PM is withholding vital information.

One in particular interested me. As Prime Minister, he was aware of the names of MP’s who were wittingly assisting foreign state actors soon after their elections. 👀 Those names are classified. The trump-like guy (my words) could know those names if he got the right clearance.

That return would be contingent upon the adjudication of the case in which she says she is a target in the US. Here is that hearing if you’d like to watch it for yourself. There are some really good and important questions asked. https://t.co/Uq0nSlsdMz

She refused to answer. The reason she gave was because she is the target of an investigation in the US. To retain her ability to not self-incriminate under the 5th amendment, she refused to answer any questions under oath. She also told the MP’s she would return to answer ?’s.

Who were the influencers influenced by? Canada has been asking that very question. In fact, the MPs recently asked questions of “Founder-1” from that indictment above.

Where did the money go? The right-wing social media stars who were allegedly paid millions in a nefarious Russian influence operation are remaining mum.

I’m off track. Canada has what is called a Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security. This would be akin to a House Intelligence Congessional committee. The Members of Parliament (MP’s*) have been holding hearings about Foreign Influence in their elections. *🤷🏼‍♂️

You’d need lawyers to fight battles in court against ecologists, pesky kids who chain themselves to trees, indigenous that won’t leave. Anyway, oil pipelines are controversy magnates. Sorry, magnets. This talk of pipeline is pure speculation by me at this point. Just an opinion.

Oil pipelines always make for controversies whether it be from those who don’t want people to drill, to those who don’t want people and ecology to be displaced or ruined. That’s politics and money. But to get approvals to do pipelines sometimes you may need power of government.
