Fantastic work from @laure_le_blanc's PhD, and a great collaboration with @DumenilLab and @DariaBonazzi! Bacteria get more crowded under confinement, decreasing biosynthesis and growth. But they still divide and become extra small! Check out to see how they perform under pressure.

We are pleased to share our latest preprint on the link between intracellular density and mechanical pressure! Using quantitative phase microscopy, we show that density increases proportionally to pressure. More information here👉 Congrats to @Hyojun_Kim_

Here, we explore the possibility that cells can sense and adapt to changes in crowding through the modulation of biochemical reactions without the need for a dedicated sensor. Additionally, we explore phase separation as a general physicochemical response to changes in crowding.
