Strip-searching of young people has to stop when majority of the time these searches turn up nothing, it’s tantamount to child abuse. @ShareefaEnergy for @RJInitiative underscores the importance of being an active bystander when we see police harass children & young POC!

We are deeply concerned about the rising disproportionate targeting of children and young people by police. We asked @ShareefaEnergy  break down the stats in this video.

Over 60 children a week are strip searched by police in England & Wales. Black children are 6.5 times more likely than white children to be subjected to a strip search by police. Awful statistics. We ask more of the public to challenge stop and searches to reduce statistics

It’s a well documented fact that the police are institutionally racist, misogynistic and homophobic. Being an active bystander is a harm reduction tactic alongside the other efforts to strip police of their disproportionate powers. 👇🏾
