Math is just like the gym, the big three will give you biggest ROI:. Squat = Linear Algebra: hate it initially but then love it; the foundation of everything. Deadlift = Calculus: Gets fucking hard as you progress but has giant gains . Bench = Prob/stat: The most fun to spam.

Recently I've learned that the deeper you get in math and want to speak to math people you'll find yourself speaking to many disciplines: hardware, chemistry, physics, bio, quant/hft, computer sci, cybersec, just anything. math is the universal generaliser to expanding the mind.

Math cannot be done top-down. It is extremely hierarchically dependent. If you want to go far you'll be forced to drop the ego and go bottom-up, otherwise your kidding yourself. Math isn't like programming, you cant go far learning from building a project without prereqs. .

when you master the fundamentals you become automatic, meaning you have a lot of computational space for observations and creativity. This causes you to pick up on patterns and notice things you otherwise wouldn't have if you weren't at that level of fundamental automaticity.

Okay, I think I've made the best possible schedule I can repeat in my new timezone. It optimises for:.1. guaranteed full-body workout + cardio.2. focus "workout" w/ meditation.3. mental powerlifting to progress to goal.4. prevent burnout .5. best possible sleep. Glhf

Nobody tells you this, but you can just sit around and teach yourself math up to a graduate level and beyond. I came out of school during the great financial crisis and went straight into having a business.

You will assume you don't like something until you stumble across the thing being used in something else you're interested in. Then you go down the rabbit hole and then fall in love with the thing. For example, linear algebra seems quite meh and then you learn about eigenvectors.
