Bob fought so hard for the RECA expansion. I met him and his sweet wife Kitty a little over a decade ago when they came to STL to do a Town Hall about the radioactive sites in STL.
The life of Bob Alvarez, long-time champion of reducing health threats of nuclear weapons and power, is described in the New York Times obituary, July 18, 2025.

My daughter Sophie is in DC on her own meeting with @SenHawleyPress @HawleyMO to help advocate + spread the word about RECA. For as long as she remembers, this issue has been a part of her life through me. Today, she grabbed the reigns! These two staff members helped save lives!

And yet the US Government wants us to give them another 10+ years to finish finding/cleaning up the radioactive waste! NOPE! They need to get out here and expedite the clean up now! They should treat it like they would an oil spill and deploy a team!.

Everyone deserves to have their lives saved. Questioning which group of people are more deserving of help while one group is standing next to the creek that poisoned them hurt deeply for some. It wasn’t the intention of the press or done on purpose- they recognize that. Still :(.
Sen Josh Hawley called Medicaid cuts "morally wrong" & "politically suicidal." He said the "big beautiful bill" would eventually force rural hospitals to close. He called for a tax policy that is more fair to workers and families than corporations. So why'd he vote for this?
