I was just talking about Lee Elia yesterday. He was also the third base coach on the 1980 World Championship team.
The Phillies mourn the loss of Lee Elia, who managed the club from 1987-88. We extend our condolences to Lee’s widow Priscilla and the entire Elia family at this difficult time.

Not the only reason the Phils lost, but this certainly affected the game.
Umpire Phil Cuzzi had a rough 8th inning in the Giants Phillies game. He made two bad calls to Bryce Harper and then gifted Matt Chapman a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th life in the bottom half of the inning. Instead of striking out, Chapman singled, and moved the winning run into scoring

And those numbers could have been a little higher, but one of his best seasons (1981, MVP) was cut short by a strike.
From 1974-1987 Mike Schmidt averaged 37 HRs, 104 RBIs & 99 runs scored a season. Toss in 10 Gold Glove awards. Best 3B ever in my opinion.

The below post is from yesterday. Today is not a full schedule, and we still might get a record sixth day of 3 (or more) shutouts after the Phillies blanked the Padres.
There have been at least 3 team shutouts on each of the last 5 days. That’s the longest such streak in MLB history . h/t @EliasSports.
