Always appreciate the opportunity to connect with @NAFSMAorg membership. Great panel led by Brooke Seymour along with Jackie Higgins and Lelia Taha. Another great annual conference with many of the nations best flood and stormwater managers.

FEMA plays an integral role in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. States would quickly be overwhelmed without their assistance...kind of why states REQUEST a disaster declaration.

Building back stronger and improving individual and community resilience post devastating natural disasters must be a priority. Communities in North Carolina must enforce locally adopted NFIP Substantial Damage to provide safer homes that will better withstand future events.

Tropical Storm #Idalia may bring life-threatening storm surge along portions of the Florida Gulf Coast, up to 11 feet above ground level. Storm surge is deadly. It is critical that anyone ordered to evacuate does so immediately. Follow @NHC_Atlantic & @NHC_Surge for updates.
