I've been locked out of @OpenAI for six days now. "We were unable to determine your country of origin to enforce geographical restrictions." Still in Canada, whois checks out. Fortunately the API is still working, otherwise this is a pretty strong case against #centralization

Speaking as a wanton solutionist, I don't like being paranoid, but this might be a good time. Centralized AI would make an excellent social police.

When orgs develop AI, it is their responsbility to make sure they consciously include displaced people. Plenty of opportunity to develop mixed solns that benefit from direct participation at different levels. Instead we get the gimmick of AI personality.
