One of the nicest things a stranger has ever done for me is send a wedding gift. Why would @AndreaThome do that? Because my wife and I's anniversary is the same as her and her husband. So happy anniversary Andrea and Jim!

The most important thing, to me, about @Big_Popaa is that he always took the time to take pictures, sign autographs, everything. Always the last one off the field. Always making a kid's day. Tonight he became a World Series Champion. So proud of him. What a journey.

We don't talk enough about how kind and efficient @JacksonAirports is. It's 6am and the @Delta staff was so authentically friendly this morning. TSA got me through quickly. It's always a well-oiled operation when I come through here.

The first is from March 22nd of this year. The second was this morning. I don't even look like the same person to myself.

Because what felt like the end of everything I knew became the beginning of something magnificent.

And now comes Year 2. Proof that when I am able to commit all of myself to something, it is worthwhile. And wonderful. The sadness is still there, and probably always will be. But alongside it is pride. And joy.

And this winter, Southern Lights will bring families here in a brand new way, turning the ballpark into a holiday wonderland. It was fast, messy, and exhausting, but it was groundbreaking.

In Year 1 of @mudmonstersbsb, we didn’t just keep the ballpark alive. We reinvented it. We gave this place a new identity, a new story. We pulled off things like Identity Crisis Night that could only be born in Mississippi, part absurd, part joyful, and all heart.

That’s why the ending cut so deep. I felt left out. Unwanted. Nowhere to go. The sorrow was heavy and it stayed with me. But sorrow can be a seed. Out of that grief came a chance to build something I never imagined.

We worked through transitions and ownership changes, we kept the gates open and the stands alive, we raised a championship banner, and we celebrated when Atlanta won the World Series. It was good work. It was meaningful work. It was a piece of me.

One year ago tonight the Mississippi Braves played their final game in Pearl. I stood on the field after the last out and felt a weight I still can’t fully describe. Five years of my life had been tied to this place.
