Thread 1 I've been thinking more about @alzheimerssoc ad & reaction to it. Some ppl are critical of the 'living well with dementia' idea that I unashamedly advocate for. They say that this shows ppl are wrongly diagnosed and/or don't have dementia 🧵

The debate around the @alzheimerssoc ad is very toxic. It is an argument about two points of experience. The sole promotion of either side can be upsetting but it should be possible to accept the existence of the other without seeking to silence. One does not diminsh the other.

Some people are saying this advert is not positive enough. I understand that it may not be the reality for everyone. For me, this is the reality of caring for someone with Alzheimer's.. closer to soul destroying than anything positive.
