Speaking as a historian of American conservatism who actually published an academic book on the subject. *none* of the people who are making this claim are actually historians of American conservatism.
To be a historian of American conservatism and deny something as obvious as the connection between MAGA and the paleoconservative movement is just embarrassing, you should be humiliated to make such a claim.

Huh, I missed the "white flight was actually the ethnic cleansing of American cities" discourse on the right over the past couple of days.
During Covid I went down so many rabbit holes. For example I had no idea that whites were ethnically cleaned from cities. Liberal academics of the day documented it. One book was on Rosedale (?) or something like that. It read very much like South Africa today. Just the facts.

Well to be fair for a good half-century there the Democratic Party was itself the party of treason.
The Democratic Party had 197 years to come up with a strategy for when a fascist lunatic takes control of the government with the absolute support of his rival party and they didn’t come up with anything!.

@UVA (It may seem like I'm trolling by posting this, and I kind of am, but also my syllabus is FOIA-able and if someone is gonna after me for it I'd rather just have it already out there!).

Anyway, here's hoping I don't get fired by our new administration at @UVA for teaching anti-MAGA or woke DEI agitprop!.

I want to thank the folks who responded to this thread for giving me some really great ideas about contemporary texts to assign, which make up the bulk of the final class sessions.
If you could assign students *one* article, essay, or book chapter by a contemporary New Right thinker that serves as a lucid and coherent introduction to their political thought, what would it be and why?.
