The point that a lot of people miss about online conversations:. Conversations here do not aim to ENACT a new way of living. It's just different people coughing out their idiosyncrasies. And you will do well to ask questions that unearth their biases than attacking anyone.

The real investing is boring. In between it, you get adrenaline.

I genuinely don’t understand how this is an appealing proposition. If you’re a good president, the country benefits greatly from you running for all the constitutionally allowed terms (2 in this case and 4 years each). That benefit would obviously be like the kind we saw during.

My One-Term, Four-Year Vow Is Sacrosanct. One of the greatest American Presidents, Abraham Lincoln, served only four years, yet his legacy endures as a model of principled leadership. Another iconic figure, John F. Kennedy, did not even complete a full term, yet his vision and.

Forgot to update this. Adventure one started already. I resumed a new position with a company specialising in pension insurance (Annuity and Equity Release). Immersed in a different world now. Grateful 🙏🏾.

Last Friday was my last day at EY and consulting in general (for now, at least). What a long 7 years that was. Grateful for the experiences, opportunities and impact in that time. Received so many goodwill messages that moved me to tears. Now, the next adventure(s) are even.

I spent some time today listening to some of C.S. Lewis’ works. No disappointment at all. And I only want to now do more.

If I were to pick a new author to read as much of their work as I possibly could, C.S. Lewis would come at the top of that list. I’ve seen so many snippets like this that make me want just to read more of his works.

Write to declutter your mind.

Here's an interesting observation. Clear thinking helped me to master clear writing. But I didn't develop clear thinking until I started writing. All ambiguity is a function of a cluttered mind. Declutter your mind with writing.

Of course there is labour in thinking and it is hard. That’s not surprising because writing is also hard. Thinking has to be harder.

(Quality) writing is hard because thinking is hard. Writing is hard because the art of creation is hard. Writing is hard because tuning a blank page that’s without form or shape into a coherent piece that cuts through noise is hard. But we must engage in all this notwithstanding.

The attribution of that quote is here and there and I think Robert Cialdini’s book might be the first place I can across it.

I hope you never outsource your thinking, not to the media, not to LLMs and certainly not to propaganda. For LLMs, it hurts me that humans, whom Sir Joshua Reynolds already said, “There is no expedient to which [they] will not resort to avoid the labour of thinking”, have been.

“I think he knows what Rome is. Rome is the mob. Conjure magic for them and they'll be distracted. Take away their freedom and still they'll roar. The beating heart of Rome is not the marble of the senate, it's the sand of the coliseum. He'll bring them death - and they will love.

“You wrote to me once, listing the four chief virtues: Wisdom, justice, fortitude and temperance. As I read the list, I knew I had none of them. But I have other virtues, father. Ambition. That can be a virtue when it drives us to excel. Resourcefulness, courage, perhaps not on.
