Publication day for True West. Always a nervy time, it's great to see it chosen as Readings' crime book of the month, accompanied by a terrific review. Just as good to see how many on the list are Oz crime releases. @FremantlePress

And I'll just mention two books a propos here: The brilliant, haven't read anything so gripping/important in years 'Deep Water' by James Bradley. My review: https://t.co/B2q87nvYpr And the terrific crime novel about industrial fishing by David Whish-Wilson, 'Cutler' #ocean

It's #WorldBookDay in the UK today (diff dates in the USA etc), an annual celebration of the huge joys - and benefits - of reading for pleasure, not solely to learn things. Numerous studies have shown children and adults who read for pleasure are better off in numerous ways 🧵

Just finished it. A page-turner, set in the world of illegal industrial fishing - the background data deeply researched in all its massive horrors to the environment, to fish species and the trafficking of humans beings. Highly recommend. 'Cutler' by David Whish Wilson #books
This from James Bradley, author of the recent and stunning 'Deep Water'. Couldn't get a better recommendation: 'Really excited about this one! I'm a huge fan of @davidwhishwilson's fiction, and an incredibly important subject in the human costs of industrial fishing.'
