Common sense tells Prez that if you get a promise that affects the future sovereignty of more than 12 countries in perpetuity, get it written down. Otherwise NATO can just quote the Russian man who said he didn't get the promise.

OTD in 1980 West Germany signed what was then largest ever gas deal with USSR. We had just invaded Afghanistan. But our butchery never gets in the way of profits. A message we noted. Imagine, Germany funding Russian war machine & dismissing warnings about it.
