The Sith deserve their revenge. I deserve my revenge.

Sidious noticed Maul's reaction and said to him, "That is correct. I am prepared to lose you—what I most value. So must you be to become a Sith. You must be prepared to lose your own life in order to win."

"The Force feels out of balance."

"Stand up. You can at least meet your fate without groveling."

Fear is my ally.

"We can walk that path together! As friends! As…brothers…"

His wound festered. The pain was blinding. He had no doubt that death would come soon. He thought he was hallucinating when he saw a cloaked figure at the mouth of the cave. It was Sidious.

Maul was exercising in his training room on Coruscant and had just completed a triple backward flip when his comlink signaled. He pressed a button and heard his Master's voice. "Strategy room. Now."

"You were given your gift for a reason: to use it."

"Filth. You will pay for your insolence!"

"KENOOOOBIIIIIII!"

Far above, far below. We don't know where we'll fall. Far above, far below. What once was great, is rendered small.

"They will lash out in despair."

Blindfolded, Maul threw daggers at robotic targets, which threw daggers back at him. He was blindfolded again before he climbed into a starship flight simulator wired with disciplinary electrodes.

"A waste. Such weak flesh…"

Of course I survived."

"Your rage has unbalanced you."
