Mets could’ve used Nolan McLean today, but he started as scheduled for Triple-A yesterday. They could’ve also used Brandon Sproat today (or Sunday) but he’s set to go today for Syracuse. Mets instead opting for Justin Hagenman plus bullpen today & seemingly bullpen game Sunday.

It’s funny that all the New York papers seemingly settled on the “Mets and Yanks are derailed” narrative days ago, and kept it going even though the Mets just took a series from the Brewers and looked really good doing so. So lazy . It’s OK to adjust when things change.

Mets are so close to having Sean Manaea, Kodai Senga, and Jesse Winker back . They just need to persevere without them for a bit longer . 4-4 over their last 8 games is baby steps toward stabilizing things after that awful stretch.

Mets are indeed targeting July 13 for Sean Manaea’s return.
Carlos Mendoza said Sean Manaea was *not* in consideration to pitch Sunday vs Yankees. So plan is:. Manaea pitches tonight . Manaea makes another rehab start next Tuesday, because there are no minors games on Monday . So earliest he’ll return is July 13, day before All-Star break.

Carlos Mendoza said Kodai Senga will make a rehab start on Saturday or Sunday for Double-A Binghamton and that he could possibly return to the Mets before the All-Star break.

With Paul Blackburn out, my guess is that Justin Hagenman will start tomorrow against Yankees. Frankie Montas starts Saturday . Mets could conceivably use an opener/bullpen game on Sunday . Or they could call Brandon Sproat up. He’s currently set to pitch tomorrow for Syracuse.

A long overdue honor for Francisco Lindor. Barring something weird, Mets will have four All-Stars. Pete Alonso and Juan Soto should be slam dunks to be chosen as reserves . Edwin Diaz should be on the pitching staff.
