I remember waking up the day same sex marriage was legal. I felt so much hope and optimism for the future. With each passing day, I feel so much despair - not just for this current generation, but for those who will grow up with fear and uncertainty.

I am also reportedly nowhere close to finishing the screenplay of my next film.

Tom Cruise and Christopher Nolan would be a match made in movie heaven.

My partner showed me NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2: FREDDY’S REVENGE last night for the first time. I absolutely loved it. The queer undertones are awesome, but this is simply a fun, clever sequel that continuously raises the stakes and evolves what came before. It’s a good movie!

Just got asked on a wedding invite what song I want to dance to and I wrote down “Can You Hear The Music” by Ludwig Göransson.

I don't enjoy setting expectations too high for a film that won't be out until next July. I do have a sneaking sense that THE ODYSSEY will be ambitious both visually and narratively. I prefer it when Nolan takes risks.

Contemporary film conversation is often facile and dichotomous, and it is incredibly pleasant to see Celine Song reject that glibness with sincerity and empathy. These are the same beautiful qualities that come through in her work.

Rewatched PRISONERS last night. This might be my favorite film from Denis Villeneuve besides ARRIVAL. Jóhann Jóhannsson was simply taken from us far too soon.

Sometimes I forget that between 2013 and 2017 Denis Villeneuve gave us ENEMY, PRISONERS (both in the same year), SICARIO, ARRIVAL, and BLADE RUNNER 2049. Just a generational run of films in four years.
