It’s done. The Disney Renaissance season of INK & PAINT is finally written. Ten films. Eleven episodes. 487 pages. Three years of work. You bet I fuckin’ cried when I finished it.

Put down some words for @maketheswitchAU trying to make sense of the loss of David Lynch. Hopefully it’s even vaguely worthy of an artist who meant so much to so many and redefined what we thought cinema and television was capable of.

It's never easy, realising that your gods can die. It's a feeling of displacement, the earth suddenly shifting on its axis. Someone we assumed would always be there, perhaps even taken for granted,...

A tragedy that Sayombhu Mukdeeprom shot the fuck out of four films this year and wasn’t nominated for any of them by his peers

The fact there is no sign of a theatrical release of SING SING or NICKEL BOYS in Australia has gone from deeply frustrating to suspiciously conspicuous.

Also, I cannot tell you how much I love Gromit. I adore Gromit. I would die for Gromit. I want nothing but safety and happiness for Gromit.

WALLACE & GROMIT - VENGEANCE MOST FOWL: Yet another slam-dunk for Aardman’s crown jewel. The story cracks with wit, the animation is sublime and the pastiche of noir cinema is, as always, pitch perfect. I laughed myself silly and gasped with delight. Give it the Oscar.

My ★★★★½ review of NOSFERATU, director Robert Eggers’ delicious and unsettling reimagining of the 1922 classic. There’s a primal, elemental force to this film that had me totally enthralled. A definite must-see. Check out my review at @maketheswitchAU

It was a delight to find that 'Nosferatu' did not meet or exceed my expectations but instead offered something unexpected, a wickedly oppressive and profane fairytale of unapologetic brutality.

My ★★★★ review of BETTER MAN, the biggest surprise of the year. This Robbie Williams biopic takes the biggest swing and hits an unexpectedly thrilling home run with bombastic musical sequences and genuine heart. Check out my review at @maketheswitchAU

This is a truly unique, wildly imaginative and deeply moving film, one whose familiar structure works in its favour as its aesthetic approach reaches for the heavens. Forget any trepidations you have...
