If you hire a coach from a major market (SF, NYC, etc), the fees are mostly to pay their mortgage/cost of living (similar to FTEs). You often find better quality coaches at a much lower cost in smaller markets. Take that into account when evaluating coaches.

It's tedious work. It makes you feel like it's going nowhere. So instead, you code, because that feels productive. Or maybe you doom scroll on social media. Or you check your emails like 100 times. Because all of these give you short-term dopamine hits.

The bulk of the work in sales is boring. And rarely has a reward loop that's immediate. Send 100 emails, get 4-6 replies, 1-2 positives. Sucks. Big time. So most founders I meet try to automate this ASAP.
