Here are moving obituaries and tributes to Daniel's dear friend and inspiration, Randy Kehler, 1944-2024. As Daniel always said, "No Randy Kehler, no Pentagon Papers." Our family sends love to the Kehler family. https://t.co/FyQToXGriA

Randy died on July 21 at the age of 80. So grateful to him and his wife Betsy for all their dedication and service to the cause of peace. Like a pebble in a pond, the ripples extending from his acts of conscience and humanity have reached wide and changed the world.

To people who doubted the value of protests, Randy said: "You never know! I gave a speech, and it set in motion a series of actions that helped end the war." As for my father, he always gave credit to Randy and others who set an example. "Without Randy, no Pentagon Papers."

He later said that Randy's words hit him like an axe--cutting his life in two. Before and after. (Photo shows him visiting Randy in La Tuna prison.) Randy went on to contribute to peace in many ways--as a co-founder of the National Freeze movement and tax resister.
