When it comes to worker protections in Oregon, getting laws on the books isn't the problem. Enforcing them is, says the Bureau of Labor and Industries in a new report. The agency is planning an ambitious budget ask in 2025 to improve enforcement. More: https://t.co/2WJR6d9S0r

In a recent year, 93,000 low-income families in Oregon eligible for the EITC did not claim this valuable tax credit. The main reason is because tax filing is too complicated and costly. That needs to change

The main barrier households face in claiming the EITC is the complexity involved in filing taxes

If you're like most people, this tax season you spent too much time and money preparing and filing your taxes. It doesn't have to be this way. A simple, free tax filing system is doable

It is not only possible to imagine a better tax filing system in Oregon, but also to realize it. Getting there requires the federal and state governments to each take decisive steps in that direction.
