I don't post here anymore really but felt OK to come back here to say: we're suing Musk for rampaging through our government because unelected megadonors are not supposed to decide government services.

BREAKING: Campaign Legal Center is suing Elon Musk and DOGE for unconstitutionally acting beyond their power to slash the federal budget, fire federal workers and threaten executive agencies. These actions are causing real harm to everyday Americans. We’re suing to stop it.

They chose something broader in adopting birthright citizenship, thus adopting a hard and fast rule and barring future generations from trying to deny any future disfavored groups the rights of citizenship.

The framers of the Reconstruction Amendments could have reversed Dred Scott by barring denying citizenship based on "race, color, or previous condition of servitude" like in the 15th Amendment.

The Reconstruction Amendments were drafted to build a new, post-slavery democracy in America. They are the backbone of our modern multi-racial democracy.

Judge Coughenour, an appointee of Ronald Reagan, said from the bench: "I’ve been on the bench for over four decades, I can’t remember another case where the question presented is as clear as this one is. This is a blatantly unconstitutional order[.]" Indeed.

Citizenship is the key that unlocks the door to democratic participation and the promise of an inclusive America — from ensuring the fundamental freedom to vote to running for office. The 14th Amendment of the Constitution is clear: People born in the United States are citizens.

And here's our brief on behalf of @Secure_Families in the court case explaining why this theory is absolute dreck (and also can't be brought so late in the game):

Now, the trailing candidate is trying to disqualify long-eligible North Carolina voters' ballot based on a theory challenging overseas' voters' eligibility that has already *failed* in court. Here's an example of the challenges:

While most elections are over, there are still some *very* close ones. And, unsurprisingly, some candidates are up to some very anti-democratic antics in those races. Case in point: the Supreme Court of North Carolina race is within hundreds of votes.

Here to remind folks that we may very well not have results tonight (definitely not official results) especially if it comes down to my home state PA (b/c we refused to change our laws to allow pre-processing of mail ballots).

Another EP perspective: the most common ticket is voter registration. For states with same day registration, the answer is: go vote! For states w/o, we have the hard job of telling the voter they are out of luck if they forgot to register. It doesn't have to be this way!.

As I watch the EP tickets, I'm reminded that some of you are voting as easy as 1-2-3 while some of you are rearranging your day to get to your precinct during working hours. How easy it is to vote shouldn't depend on your zip code.

Voting doesn't have to take so long; the mechanics don't have to vary so much from jurisdiction to jurisdiction; and the results don't have to come down in fits and starts depending upon variations across states' laws and local resources. Congress can fix this—if it *wants* to.

Many of the Virginia voters who have been kicked off the rolls are eligible citizens. These are eligible Virginians who deserve to have their voices heard. Here's a roundup of reporting about individual voters from Lynchburg, Roanoke, Henrico, and Woodbridge.

But folks need to channel their (correct) anger into action. These voters can vote by registering same day in Virginia. And that's why reforms like same day registration are so important.
