Night City. A glittering metropolis of chrome, neon, and endless possibilities. But beyond the flashy facade, there's a chilling underbelly that most players never see.... (video link below) #Cyberpunk2077 #nightcity #cyberpunk @CDPROJEKTRED

I love this game so much, still do. It was crazy when I first started playing this game years and years ago, how convincing a 'real world' this felt like. I just love to learn these things, no matter how boring they may seem to people. Hopefully, you will find it of some interest

It still amazes me to this day, and I can't imagine how real GTA VI will feel all over again. I point all this out just out of interest, I'm not trying to put down the game at all, and push up my glasses and go 'you see, it's not realistic, I figured it out guys'...

That's GTA V. Everything still exists to be around you, although it's made to make you feel like you are NOT 'the main character', just a small part in a big world. Unlike like so many other games that do the opposite (Bethesda games, off the top of my head, do this ALL the time)

he starts to notice things that make him question his reality. I remember a moment when he follows a guy (or group of guys) into a building that he's never been in before, and when he does it notices the building looks like a movie set, it's a set dressing, a facade...

It's 100% The Truman Show. I'm sure you know the plot of The Truman Show, but if you don't. Basically, Truman Burbank (played by Jim Carrey) begins to suspect that his whole life is actually some sort of reality TV show that's being played out around him. Throughout the film...

NPCs are not meant to be followed...crazy right? They are there to do their thing for a second, perhaps a few minutes; after that, their purpose is over. 'You pass butter. '

But as soon as I moved the camera away from him, he disappeared as it was past his (bed)time for being there. This happened a lot with NPCs, even birds; they get to the edge of the map and disappear as soon as you pan away from them.

Timing plays a massive part! No one uses the outside gym on the beach at night, but they do in the daytime, so I stayed with an NPC who was at the gym in the daytime and didn't move, guess what? THE GUY STAYED AND PUMPED SOME MORE IRON...

There will always be a cop chase in the area at some point. And when that happens, it leads directly to points two and three above, the NPC you are following gets alerted, runs forever, and will be lucky to stay alive soon after.

NPCs getting alerted or scared leads to even more bad things happening to them. Why? Well, because when they do this, they will most likely start running very quickly away from the scene and have even less regard for their lives.

Something bad will ALWAYS happen to an NPC if you follow them long enough Especially if they are walking. NPCs will mistime the traffic lights nearly ALL THE TIME. This leads to them getting nearly missed or flat-out hit by a car. If they live after that happens, it leads to...

Took me a whole day to do this. Was I bored during most of it? Yes, very. But some parts were interesting. I followed 100 NPCs, including random people on the street, planes, the cops, animals (even a god damm bird at one point), people in cars, and people doing activities...

Little context: I create videos about games (ahhh a gaming YouTuber, no, run away!) and the latest video I made, I spent hours following NPCs around in GTA V to see how they act if you do follow them for ages, just so I can understand the game's AI logic more clearly...
