In general, the communication in many instances is so unspecific that it remains to be seen what's coming out of it and what its precise relation with the EIB (which after all operates a Green Hydrogen Fund) is going to be. /end.

What you can find in the communication, instead, is which financial instruments and funds can already be tapped into, and again the 'bank' appears predominantly as an instrument to channel funds and - you guessed it - 'leverage' private investments. 3/n

At its heart it's basically an auction mechanism, supposed to create a market by connecting demand and supply, de-risk, coordinate and plan. But if you are looking for traditional bank activities, lending, borrowing, the communication is the wrong place to look 2/n

Apparently, the European Hydrogen Bank is taking shape. Others are in a better position to judge if its worth setting this up for what seems quite a (ambiguous) hype. In any case, it looks suprisingly little like a bank and more like a hub! 1/n.
