I passed my PhD viva yesterday! Thanks so much to Ifan and all of the @Interfacial_EC group for supporting and teaching me so much over the years! I loved every moment 🔋⚡️👩🔬 big thanks also to the @FaradayInst and @ImpMaterials for their wonderful support! #PhDone
I am so thrilled by @daisykiwi’s success. She set up 4 empty labs from scratch, she pioneered her own new EC mass spectrometry method, discovered new degradation modes in Li ion batteries, did tons of outreach, and provided a warm convivial atmosphere to @Interfacial_EC.

Excited to see this work from my PhD published! We report the development of on-chip electrochemistry mass spectrometry for studying parasitic gas evolution in LIBs. We apply the technique and gain new insight into SEI formation and electrolyte decomposition reactions 🫧🔋✨.
Here we report a method for detecting gases evolved during parasitic degradation reactions in lithium ion batteries with orders of magnitude higher sensitivity than prior state of the art. Out now in @angew_chem
