Lithuania played a role in thwarting Operation Sealion: in April 1940 the Lithuanian legation in Paris tipped off the Foreign Office about Hitler's invasion plans - which they heard about from an Italian military attaché who was there when Hitler showed the plans to Mussolini
12 October 1940. Adolf Hitler postponed indefinitely “Operation Sealion” the German plan for the invasion of Britain. As a precondition, Hitler had specified the achievement of air and naval superiority over the English Channel but German forces never achieved either during WW2.
