Daily Dinosaur #24: Styracosaurus. This Ceratopsian dinosaur lived in in North America during the Cretaceous period. It’s characterized by its’ spiked head! It was about 18 feet long and weighed about 3 tons!

Daily Dinosaur #22: Edmontosaurus. Aptly named “duck lizard,” Edmontosaurus lived in western North America about 73 million years ago! It was actually one of the last non-avian dinosaurs to live, though it did live alongside many iconic dinosaurs such as the Tyrannosaurus Rex!

Daily Dinosaur #21: Allosaurus. Remains for this late Jurassic theropod have been found in North America and Portugal! Its’ name means “different lizard” due to the fact that when it was discovered it was thought that its’ lightweight vertebrae was unique!

Daily Dinosaur #20: Plateosaurus. It lived 204 million years ago in the Triassic period in what is now Central and Northern Europe. Plateosaurus was actually the fifth valid named dinosaur ever discovered!

Daily Dinosaur #17: Kosmoceratops. This beautiful dinosaur lived in the late Cretaceous period in what is now North America! As a ceratopsid dinosaur it does look quite a bit like a Triceratops but Kodmoceratops stands out with its’ ornate head shape!

Daily Dinosaur #16: Gigantosaurus. This large theropod lived in what is now Argentina during the late Cretaceous about 95 million years ago! Only about 70% of its fossilized skeleton have been found so the exact size of Gigantosaurus is yet unknown!

Daily Dinosaur #15: Mosasaurus. While Mosasaurus is not a dinosaur, it is more accurately a breed of aquatic squamate reptile, it is often called the “T-Rex of the sea!” It lived in the late Cretaceous and was one of the first Mesozoic marine reptiles ever discovered!

Daily Dinosaur #13: Carnotaurus. This interesting theropod lived in South America during the Late Cretaceous period. It’s distinct horns are unique among all other carnivorous dinosaurs! Only one well-preserved fossil of Carnotasaurus has ever been found.

Daily Dinosaur #12: Dilophosaurus. This unique dinosaur lived 186 million years ago in the early Jurassic. At the time it existed Dilophosaurus was the largest known land animal in North America! It bared two large crests but their true size is unknown!

Daily Dinosaur #11: Pteranodon. Much like the Pterodactyl the Pteranodon is a pterosaur. Pteranodon however is much larger at a whopping 20 foot wingspan! More fossils of Pteranodon have been found than any other pterosaur!

Daily Dinosaur #10: Spinosaurus. This large theropod lived in the late Cretaceous period in what is now North Africa about 100 million years ago! The first discovered remains of Spinosaurus were destroyed in World War II but luckily more remains were later discovered!

Daily Dinosaur #9: Saurolophus. Its’ name means “Lizard Crest,” aptly applied due to the large head-crest found on Saurolophus! This dinosaur is one of the few species to be found on multiple continents, as specimens have been found in North America and Mongolia!

Daily Dinosaur #8 Pachycephalosaurus. This bipedal dinosaur lived in the late Cretaceous period in what is now the wester United States! It is believed that these dinosaurs used their unique thick skulls as a defense mechanism against potential predators!
