My partner and I thought it would be super cool to have storm clouds above the dining table for our Halloween party So as always with less than 24 before the party I sat down with cardboard, a glue gun, some toy stuffing and old Christmas light and made these 😅

Not a day goes by where I don't think about this cabinet we found at a home removals place in cornwall earlier this year.. The walnut bur ovals framing the veneer flower art is unbelievably nice. It was only £195 but I had £0 in my account and we were 7 hours from home 😭

While talking about 3D statements 😂 another one that really held me back is: "Metallic values should always be 0 or 1" spent years fighting overly reflective metals cause of this then @ArtOfPilgrim graced me with the knowledge that its not the case Now my metal looks like this

A year ago I was modeling a portfolio piece. I posted HP on social and @JordanMossy kindly asked if he could give some advice he made me a helpful vid about how to tackle it. big part of this vid was using N-gons to avoid pinches etc. This was a literal lightbulb moment for me

Ngons don’t work with sub-d Ngons only work on flat surfaces Ngons don’t work for deforming meshes I'm genuinely curious where people get this bad advice. Is it from teachers? YouTubers? Crusty veteran 3D artists?

SubD techniques and advice for @Daga_Production 23 Minutes this time. Sped up the not interesting part, then I talk over why you'd approach things the way I did after. Hopefully its of help to people.

I had been avoiding N-gons like the plague for almost 8 years at this point All I had seen leading up to that point was "N-gon bad" on every forum, reddit, youtube tutorial etc.

Dont get me wrong its not just games/3D I have worked full-time as a mechanic for the last 6 years and the amount of old wives tales do/donts about working on cars is silly It always goes Them: never do this Me: why? Them: Just dont.. 😅

The cynical part of me thinks its because 90% of peeps who teach this practice dont actually know why they think that like some crappy telephone game And that in itself is a much bigger problem with the industry itself thats hard to get into 😅

I get that peeps think its good to tell students to avoid pitfalls to "simplify learning" but 3D isnt a simple subject theres nuance to every part we should be teaching how/why n-gons work not scaring people away from then to make it "easier"

The compressor is finally in. I feel its coming together but something feels a little off but I dunno what. I think maybe the composition is off and its really not selling the scale/making it look sparse? Think I should have spent more time on comp and lighting in the blockout

This one was surprisingly tough to texture you'd think it just being made of a single material would make it easier but trying to get the metal to not only respond in the right way but also not look repetitive was harder than I thought😅 #Gameart #gamedev #substancepainter
