Today is Daphne du Maurier's birthday. She was born on 13th May 1907. The image we have chosen to share with you on this special day is this stunning photograph of Daphne just before she left finishing school in France in 1925.

234 women were nominated, and from those, Art Centre Penryn and project leader, Katie Bunnell, worked with Hypatia Trust, Kresen Kernow, Black Voices Cornwall, Access Cornwall and others to help with the task of selecting the final 50 diverse and inspirational women.

In November 2024, the search began for 50 exceptional Women of Cornwall to be selected, with the aim of creating 50 plates of the chosen women. The Art Centre Penryn asked the public to nominate women who had made a meaningful contribution to Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly.
