I'm here at FDIC and will be doing a book signing at 1400 at the bookstore. The book is full of stories from when I was a firefighter in Ladder 17 and Squad 41. The reader will learn the effects of improper ventilation, signs of flashover, and signs of Collapse stop by say hello.

A lot to consider. A factory converted to a MD with a 3 Story type 5 addition on roof. Get out and know your buildings.

Vacant doesn’t always mean unoccupied. Check for signs of entry. Look for cables through windows. Always verify stability first if going to enter.

Think out of box. If you can’t get it from front or rear think about breaching wall in exposure

This garbage compactor was originally built as an incinerator which means the walls are brick. Nevertheless they can still present problems if brick is compromised or flue is blocked.

If you go through a door in a lobby it needs to be chocked open for other units coming in if it doesn’t negatively effect ventilation

The companies did outstanding job early this morning. Came over as an odor of smoke at intersection. Received an update for larger building. Turned out to be roof of exposure. The importance of going to your position. Roof FF found this.

Just as important to know where shut off is at an operation. Water can cause extensive damage after fires knocked down
