Wow, got a request to review a 20 page proposal from grad student, whose instructor requires these to be reviewed exclusively from ppl external to the school. This is main piece for student to get credit. How is this good practice from the teacher? Or am I overreacting?

Bumblebees, it appears, are quite playful — especially when they're young.

Getting a behind the scenes tour of historic sawmill and Detroit city stables on Belle Isle was a unique perk from one of my recent talks.

First time visiting @MSUExtension Urban ag center in Detroit. A nice mix of fruits, veggies, and ornamental grasses planted there.

This ruling is outrageous, heartbreaking, and puts Americans' lives in danger right now. They overturned Roe, but we will never give up. We will overcome Dobbs.

Hello entomology Twitter! I am looking for entomologists/citizen scientists in North America who can send me hover fly specimens of two common species. I am especially interested in folks in the northeast, midwest, or southwest (Texas). Please DM me if you are interested.

I'm used to phone messages at work about plant health care problems or volunteer concerns. What a pleasant change to have someone take the time to leave a voicemail saying they enjoyed one of my talks.

Insect identification fail: An image search would've shown that you picked one of the few shiny green insects that's not Emerald ash borer. https://t.co/dgmbCvhG5N

I was moderating a session when a person in the front row fell asleep with mouth open. Once he started snoring, I needed to poke him with a pencil. He woke up but fell asleep, snoring again! Had to give a 2nd poke before he finally got up and left.

Neat to see this Google recognition even though # of citations doesn't really matter in my career at this point. Very thankful I'm in a position where it's not publish or perish for journal articles.
