In England, parent carers are entitled to a parent carer assessment, under S17ZD Children Act 1989. A parent carer is someone aged 18 or over who provides or intends to provide care for a disabled child. #parentcarer #socialcare

The Working Together to Safeguard Children Guidance, paragraph 83, states: "where particular needs are identified at any stage of the assessment, social workers should not wait until the assessment reaches a conclusion before commissioning services to support the child".
