My statement on the NSSE Designation.

In accordance with the President’s proclamation, and to honor the fallen USCP officers who valiantly died in the line of duty this past week, we have lowered the DHS flags to half staff.

Great to christen the Department’s official flagpole at DHS HQ. Here, it will fly proudly as the centerpiece of the Department, each day reminding us of our commitment to embody the relentless resilience of the American people to ensure a safe, secure, and prosperous Homeland.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the Federal Protective Service. We are celebrating the incredible legacy that the men and women of FPS have built over five decades, valiantly carrying out their mission to protect public servants and the people they serve throughout our Nation

Today is a reminder of how much we owe to our nation’s law enforcement community. God bless each and every one of them. #LawEnforcementAppreciationDay.

Please join me in praying for his family, friends, and loved ones during this very difficult time.

Today, DHS and all of our components are grieving with our brothers and sisters of the USCP over the loss of officer Brian Sicknick. The entire law enforcement community honors his life and sacrifice—a sacrifice that will not be forgotten.

My full statement condemning violence at the U.S. Capitol.

.@DHSgov is fully supporting our Capitol Police partners to restore order to the U.S. Capitol.

Violence in any form is unacceptable. NO one has the right to attack ANY federal institution regardless of motivation. Violent opportunists at the US Capitol grounds must be held accountable. We have a proud history of resolving our differences through peaceful means.

Honored to speak with our Coast Guard Patrol Forces Southwest Asia (PATFORSWA) in Bahrain today. These brave men and women partner with NAVCENT everyday to ensure the Arabian Gulf is as safe and secure as possible in order to protect our national and regional interests.

Thank you to @AbdullaRAK for hosting me in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Looking forward to working together to bolster our collaboration in cybersecurity, infrastructure security, counterterrorism, law enforcement, and other priorities for both of our great nations.

Yesterday, I signed a Declaration of Intent on Border Security and Management with Minister @Christodulides of #Cyprus to better collaborate on countering threats from terrorism, transnational organized crime and trafficking, and irregular migration.

Had an opportunity to see firsthand the UN Buffer Zone in #Cyprus. The U.S. Government supports efforts to reunify the island as a bizonal, bicommunal federation.

This morning I welcomed @DHS_Wolf Acting Secretary Chad Wolf to Cyprus. Looking forward to advancing the U.S.-Republic of Cyprus relationship during his visit.

This donation from the US government to #Cyprus will allow international partners to train in a dedicated facility with cutting edge equipment to curb threats from malign regional actors and violent extremist organizations.

Had the honor of helping break ground on the #Cyprus Center for Land, Open-Seas, and Port Security training facility today.
