For those who just discovered the abortion issue yesterday and believe a lot of lies: at no time have the Democrats EVER had 60 Senators willing to codify abortion rights into law.
It has NEVER been possible.
It's up to us to MAKE IT POSSIBLE with better Senators.

People will be wrong. Embarrassingly so.
History is pretty clear on this point. In 2024 we don't have 50 senators who would vote to codify Roe. What makes anyone think it's ever been 60?

Ironically, I would bring this up pre-Dobbs, but usually to point out that abortion rights didn’t have the mainstream popularity that a lot of complacent liberals believed. (Hell, Roe is just a year older than I am!)

Well, I would argue that it DOES have the mainstream popularity... with actual citizens of the country.
Elected officials are another thing entirely, and Senators are specifically not representative of the population.
Nor is the majority-Catholic Supreme Court.
