To date, our office has increased the number of sex assault convictions secured by our office, established policy changes, increased staffing & resources for victims, & enhanced training for our staff to ensure sex assault victims are treated with dignity & respect.

In June 2021, Travis County settled the landmark suit filed against former Travis County District Attorneys, the Travis County District Attorney’s Office, the Austin Police Department, the City of Austin, and Travis County. The City of Austin settled its lawsuit in 2022.

The documentary #AnArmyofWomen follows the courageous sex assault survivors who filed a class-action lawsuit in June 2018, alleging police and prosecutors in Austin and Travis County did not adequately investigate or prosecute the sexual assaults they reported since 2006.

April is also #SexualAssaultAwarenessMonth and #ChildAbusePreventionMonth. Our office hosted a gathering to thank our Special Victims Unit & Child Abuse Unit for their relentless work toward helping victims of child abuse & sexual violence by seeking justice & helping them heal.

Today we stand in solidarity with @AustinNewsGuild members on strike. Public safety begins with a good job that pays a family-supporting wage.
Journalists at the @Statesman are on strike in protest of @Gannett’s unfair labor practices and bad-faith bargaining. Please support us by sharing our strike fund, joining us at noon at the South Congress Bridge and not crossing the digital picket line.

Residents who are arrested but have their charges dismissed by a judge, are no billed by a grand jury, or successfully complete a diversion program and were never convicted of a crime are often eligible to have their arrest record cleared.

Yesterday, our DA announced that our office partnered with Travis CTY Clerk Velva Price, Travis CTY Attorney Delia Garza, and AISD Board Trustee Chair Arathi Singh for our Expunction Expo on 4/27/24 to help clear people’s records who were arrested but never convicted of a crime.

For the first time, the benefit concert will be a live music and comedy event, with performances until 10:00 p.m. Donations will go to the @SIMSfoundation , whose mission is to help reduce substance use issues while supporting and enhancing the well-being of the music community.

Doors are open for our “Safer Together: Overdose Prevention & Harm Reduction Saves Lives” benefit concert to continue raising awareness about the increasing number of overdose deaths in Travis County and connect our.community with lifesaving resources. Join us at @FarOutLounge !
