Mainly, though, he was an unforgettable character perfectly suited for a press box. And especially a baseball press box. There's a case that the defining trait of baseball is its everydayness. And Craig was definitely an everyday sort of guy.

He very pointedly detested Maryland's traditional nemeses in men's basketball and football, traditional being from a 1980s/1990s lens. And he was never afraid to share an opinion, which makes me think he was quite pleased with his last two Saturdays.

The man loved baseball and telling Earl Weaver stories amid his many, many gigs. He disliked soccer --- anytime was a good time to ask if he was looking forward to whatever national team game or European club exhibition was coming to town, then basking in the inevitable rant.
