@salltweets Gender is like belief in a soul. Fine for those with faith. But utterly irrelevant to everyone else and absolutely not the basis on which society or its laws should be organised. I am not gender critical. I am a gender atheist.

#SaraSharif #VictoriaClimbie #Safeguardingourchildren A 🧵 1/6 https://t.co/TKOF9Bp7hD An appalling case. No-one did what they ought because they feared causing offence or being branded as racist. And so a young girl - Sara Sharif - was brutally abused and killed.

There is so much good, detailed Equality law in this response piece on single sex services by @peter_daly . A must read

Melanie Field wrote a detailed piece about single sex services in the Equality Act 2010. I think it was in error, and in this piece I've set out why.

So it is fine for influential people to privately advocate for a change in the law under which vulnerable people will foreseeably come to harm, and their only regret is that their thoughts are made public?

Henry "even if a few grannies get bullied into it" Marsh clarifies: Agrees "yes, in principle", if there's some cases of coercion into 'assisted' death, the greater public good is satisfied. "There is always a cost" "But you justify that risk by saying more people benefit"

Heartbreaking story on cuts to hospices on @BBCNewsnight tonight. Imagine choosing a state-funded assisted suicide system over properly funded palliative care. The House of Lords have a choice here. They should vote down the wicked assisted suicide bill.

This is against BBC Editorial Guidelines. Refusal to take part - ‘no debate’ - should not be allowed to veto an item. They should be empty chaired instead. Whole thread is excellent

Before then, activists had an effective veto on coverage — in 2014, Paris Lees and Fred McConnell entirely scuppered a Newsnight discussion at the last minute by pulling out when they learned that a gender-critical trans person, Miranda Yardley, would also be on the panel.
