From bold beginnings to breakthroughs  . In 2006, Cure Cancer backed Dr Angela Hong with her very first research grant. That early support helped her uncover a link between HPV and throat cancer in men, research that went on to shape Australia’s national vaccination program.

Congratulations to Dr Heather Murray! Dr Murray is a leading postdoctoral researcher at the University of Newcastle whose work in cancer proteomics is paving the way for precision treatments in acute myeloid leukaemia.

Congratulations to Dr Mohammed Saad! Dr Saad is a molecular biologist and lung cancer researcher based at the University of Adelaide. His work has led to collaborations with major pharmaceutical companies, and his research appears in top-tier journals.

Congratulations to our 2025 Researcher of the Year A/Prof Shuai Li! Based at the University of Melbourne, he has helped shape international clinical guidelines and contributed to the BOADICEA breast cancer risk model, now used by over 9,000 clinicians in more than 120 countries.
