And of course I finish off the day with another messed up printing attempt and by jabbing myself in the finger with a frickin needle while vaccinating some of my pigeons at home. Owch. 🙃.On the bright side, guess I’m now double immune to the pigeon paramyxovirus. Yay?.

Took them with me along with an already dead pigeon. Both of them have died since then too, which pretty much just confirms that they’ve been poisoned. A fourth one is still alive but only barely, probably won’t make it through the night anymore either.

Man today was just poopy all around. Woke up to one of the critical condition wood pigeons having died, then the 3D printer made a mess instead of a print. Then I go check on a pigeon on my way only to find it had turned into two completely apathetic pigeons on a bench.

Second round of bathing, whatever this poor baby fell into is very very stubborn, and I don’t wanna stress the poor bird too much either cause it’s already incredibly thin and weak. Still, we‘re making some progress. Painfully slow progress but progress nonetheless. 🫠

First one‘s fine, just couldn’t really fly well enough to get back up into the trees to safety, second one will probably make a good recovery with time too. Sadly the oily mess isn’t looking good, it’s very severely underweight and might have suffered organ damage from it already.

Yesterday summed up; a clueless woodie who’s sibling got eaten, a broken wing who conveniently cornered himself, and this oil-soaked sticky mess of a starved baby fished out from down on the train tracks at the central station.

Spent two days in Hamburg to help our vet with some pigeon science, was a lot of fun because part of my job was to take photos of all the unique birds. Like this handsome fella nobody had seen there before. We’ve named it Caramel because of the unique colour.

I mean, I did say I want to redecorate my hat but uh, this ain’t what I had in mind. Apparently the little guy really likes landing on my hat though.

Got a call yesterday evening about this little guy who had fallen out of the nest. He was wet and covered in louse flies so I decided to take him home go dry off for the night. Looking a lot better already this morning

Unlike the last carrion crow fledgling in my care, this lil dude’s surprisingly chill and very curious. The last one was just constantly trying to run away or murder me.

I love wood pigeons but if this keeps going like this for much longer I’ll end up getting like war flashbacks every time I hear their lovely hoo-hoo-CROOOOO-hoo-hoooo call outside. Which is all day everyday in summer cause that’s living at the edge of town for ya here.

At this rate my teeny tiny woody daycare enclosure is already gonna be overcrowded before I even leave for the festival. So much for taking a few days off to rest after, nope, guess I’ll have to scrounge up whatever cash I got left to build a bigger better enclosure asap instead.

Man, despite having said that I currently can’t take in any new birds because I’m at a ren fair/festival all weekend, I already have like six or seven young wood pigeons waiting to move in with me when I return. This year‘s been absolutely insane, so many animals are struggling.

Well this poor crow‘s become half a magpie from malnutrition, poor kid can’t even muster enough strength to fly.

Mind you, this only works because it’s such a clean straight line and because it only the skin that’s torn. Don’t just randomly tape up other wounds thinking it’ll be enough to avoid bothering with stitches, I did talk with our vet and she told me exactly what I have to do here.

Jokes aside though, one of the three doves isn’t doing so well so I got them a heat lamp and he’s been hogging the spotlight all day today.
