Crocodiles Class were very excited this afternoon while modelling the processes of erosion and deposition in Geography. They really enjoyed making a meander out of sand and watching the effect of the water as it flowed through! @WillowsCE

In Year 5 today, we have travelled back in time and recreated Darwin's voyage on which he made many of his scientific discoveries as the last of our influential Victorians! We gathered our provisions then followed the map to find out about what he discovered. @WillowsCE

It has been Victorian Day in Year 5 today. The children have participated so well, gaining lots of experience of what life would have been like for Victorian child and learning about what Thomas Barnardo did to improve the situation for children in Victorian times. @WillowsCE

How would you decide where to build a settlement? What resources would you need to do this? How could you trade to obtain them? Year 5 enjoyed playing the game of Settlers of Catan in Geography today to explore how they could use trade to help develop settlements. @WillowsCE

We were so proud of the Year 5s on Monday during our trip to @theMADmuseum . They were so engaged by all the exhibits and enjoyed completing their quizzes, thinking about how the different mechanisms worked! This trip was inspired by our class text, Clockwork. @WillowsCE

Which animal has the longest gestation period? Is it the heaviest animal? Crocodiles Class went on a scavenger hunt this afternoon to collect data about the gestation periods of different animals to test out the predictions they had made. There were a few surprises! @WillowsCE

We are so proud of Crocodiles Class who have tried so hard to be ambitious and accurate with sentence structures and language when writing their information leaflets in English this week. Well done, Crocodiles! @WillowsCE.

We shall be sad to see our chicks leave tomorrow. We have loved having them with us for the last two weeks, watching their life cycle in action. @WillowsCE

We have really enjoyed sharing our favourite books on World Book Day! Four of our Year 5 children also represented the school at the World Book Day quiz against other schools from Stratford @WillowsCE

The hatching kit has arrived in Year 5 today and we have already spotted one egg starting to crack! In the meantime, we looked at some unfertilised eggs ourselves to identify and understand the workings of the different parts @WillowsCE

Year 5 have been creating word clouds for the poem "The Taste of a Biscuit" by @afharrold. The children discussed how poetry can help us make sense of our emotions or what has happened. They had some lovely ideas for words it made them think of. @WillowsCE

Year 5 enjoyed dissecting tulips to identify the different parts involved in sexual reproduction in plants. We carefully detached each part while learning about their functions. We were able to use the vocabulary we had learnt to describe the process. @WillowsCE

We really enjoyed NSPCC Number Day last Friday! We started by exploring the types of numbers we had chosen for our costumes (including some prime numbers!) then got on with planning our party! @WillowsCE

Here are the wonderful finished three wise men pictures for our part of the whole school nativity. The children cut out the silhouettes then glued them on to their marbled backgrounds. Well done, Year 5, we love them! @WillowsCE

Year 5 have had a "marbless" afternoon, creating the backgrounds for our Three Wise Men pictures using the technique of marbling. We really enjoyed the magic of discovering the pattern that was created! Keep an eye out for the finished pieces! @WillowsCE
