Thank you as well to everyone at Global News who have given me such support and helped me flourish on this beat. There are simply too many to name in a tweet. But I love the team of incredible journalists at Global who do so much with, too often, so little.

Just a quick note to say: this was my last day at @globalnews after five really great years. It's been quite a run from the onset of the pandemic to taking on the finance beat at the very start of the Bank of Canada's rate-hike cycle. Thank you for following along.

Canada's housing market has been "sluggish" according to some experts, but they say today's massive rate cut by the Bank of Canada "could cause the tide to turn". I write about it for @globalnews. https://t.co/eEHSoLnCjE

The Bank of Canada slashed key interest rates by half a percentage point, leading some experts to say this could spur movement in Canada's 'sluggish' housing market.

A Toronto-area Burger King says it wants foreign workers to fill a restaurant manager position & it can't find domestic candidates - it's offering $48k/yr for the job. My story on why experts told me this trend is suppressing wages. @globalnews https://t.co/85jBWI50xf

A Toronto-area Burger King can't fill a manager position, raising questions about the pay it's offering — and whether the temporary foreign workers program is suppressing wages.

The Liberals announce downpayment requirements for new insured mortgage cap: - 5% needed for the first $500K (same as before) - 10% for the remaining portion up to $1M (for a purchase price of $1.5M) That extends the previous rate for the $500K-$1M portion. #cdnpoli #cdnecon

P.S. If you feel sorry for me, here’s some perspective. The Committee to Protect Journalists reports at least 113 journalists and media workers have been killed in Gaza in the past 10 months — the “deadliest period for journalists” since 1992. I’m okay.

Our city council has done a lot of work to manage our finances carefully and responsibly. But the growing financial pressure from the decisions of other levels of government is unsustainable. Sign the petition: https://t.co/xh669AJ0Sm Notre conseil municipal a fait beaucoup
