We're making a database of 'Climate Craftivists' for our Making for Climate Change project. We'll use the database to find 5 artists to work with a group of LGBTQIA+ 18 to 25 year olds to explore how they can use crafting as a tool for climate activism in their community.

Calling all Climate Craftivists! If you're a maker who uses their craft to advocate for conservation, Climate Justice or the natural world, we would love to hear from you!

When I’m not producing with Craftspace, I’m running storytelling workshops; organising Thai boxing classes; supporting the running of a community cafe; or working on my eco-poetry. I’m really excited to be exploring Making for Climate Change over the next few months!

Do you have any advice for young artists? Sometimes the hardest thing about creativity is finding time and confidence to start a project. I try and do something everyday, be it sing, dance or draw. To me, you don’t have to be the best, it’s about the process, not the final result

...to collect stories and give people a voice, to create safe spaces, to develop environmental awareness, rural craft-based skills and to explore queer nature. We are based in the Wye Valley, from Hay on Wye to Chepstow and everywhere in between.

I am captivated by liminal spaces, spaces in between, from a queer perspective. I work within the community, as my role as Creative Community Champion for the Wye Valley River Festival in the project Queering the Wye. The mission is to unite rural LGBTQ+ folks in our local area

I’m currently working with Craftspace on a project called How to Heal? which has been inspired by the pollution in the river Wye, and the climate emergency we are facing. Can you tell us more about your work? I am an audio visual artist. I explore landscapes, place and space.

I’m Aimee, a gender non conforming queer artist living in the Welsh borders, near the river Wye. I believe very passionately in the power of creativity. To heal and to help us explore the world and make sense of it. #MeetTheArtist #CuriousAboutCraft

In our Truth of the Youth survey young people told us that climate change was one of the key issues that they were worried about. We are working with Aimee Blease-Bourne on How to Heal? We spoke to her about her work, which explores the world around us. #ArtistInterview

We have a range of creative workshop sessions that people are invited to for free. The sessions I run help people develop drawing skills whilst learning about local history & heritage. Participants will create a body of work to culminate in an exhibition launch in March 2024.

Young people told us it was important to be creative but many don’t use their voice for activism. @OlyBliss is an artist who uses his work to comment on a wide range of issues incl. ideas of masculinity &the environment. We’re working with Oly & we spoke to him about his practice
