Serving my local community is something I remain incredibly passionate about and as I step away from my role as Deputy Mayor and Civic Cabinet, I look forward to continuing to serve my local community.

From suburban skate parks and local men’s sheds to major infrastructure and planning improvements, my roles over the past 17 years have been challenging and complex but most of all they gave me the opportunity to make the suburbs I am so passionate about even better.

The opportunity to lead our Council’s efforts ensuring Brisbane benefits from hosting the biggest sporting event in the world in 2032 has been an enormous privilege.

After 17 years as a Councillor, I have decided it’s time to start considering a new path and new ways I can continue to help make Brisbane even better. I feel incredibly lucky to have helped Brisbane evolve into the best place in Australia to live, work and relax.

Local councillors should be focussed on local issues. Divisive and offensive material has no place in a publication funded by Brisbane residents. The Greens Councillor for the Gabba Ward should do the right thing and pay it back.
